Here are some things you can try:
Just remember the acronym F.O.R.M. (and you will not run out of things to talk about)
Ask them about their:
• Family (Background, demographics)
• Occupation (Job, Income, Business)
• Recreation (Hobby, leisure, fun, rest)
• Memories (Childhood, Victories, friends, past)
Additional good questions:
• Tell about a nickname you had as a child, why did they name you such
• If you are a car what would you be and why? (Men)
• If you are a dish what would you be and Why? (Women)
• Describe the best meal you've ever eaten.
• Name all of the places you have lived. Describe something memorable.
• Describe the most unusual thing that's happened to you as a teenager.
• Who was your best friend in high school and why were you close?
• What was your best summer vacation with your family?
• What three adjectives might other people use to describe your personality?
• Describe a perfect romantic evening.
• Do you feel uncomfortable going alone to either dinner or a movie?
Would you go on vacation by yourself?
• What’s the first movie you remember seeing in a theater? Or best movie seen in theatre as a child?
• If you were guaranteed honest responses to any three questions, whom would you talk to, and what would you ask?
• If a movie were made about your life, what would the theme song be?
• Have you ever been disappointed by a person you looked up to as a role model? Has a hero ever let you down?
• What was the happiest year of your life?
• Have you ever disliked someone for being luckier, more successful, or more attractive than you?
• What was your worst experience in office?
• If you were God for a day, what would you change?
• On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest), how attractive do you think you are?
• What's a lesson you had to learn the hard way?
For me the best trick ice breaker is:
'WHAT WAS THE LAST TIME YOU DID LAST WEEK FOR THE FIRST TIME?"
Try it, its funny.
